James brought along this wonderful photo of his granddad who served in the first world war and fought at Gallipoli, which is remembered this year after 100 years. Anzac Day is celebrated tomorrow here in New Zealand and this wonderful old photo serves as reminder of the proud and brave solders who served for their country. Jame originally just wanted the photo restored but once it was restored I suggested that it be made into colour and this has really brought this old photo to life again. This is a wonderful video form 10 years ago that really does show the value of photographs and the emotions and value that they possess. It sums up why I value and enjoy the photo restoration work I do at PixelFIX. How many of your photographs from the past 10 years still survive today in this modern digital age?? Kath asked me to clean up this old family photo from what looks to be early 20th century, if any one has a better idea about the date I would be grateful to know. I was approached last year by the Queen Nanasipauu of Tonga to restore some photos for the Department of Tongan  Culture. When colour film became popular back in the 1970's the technology of the film and the process of developing the prints was in it's infancy and was a technology that was advancing with each year that passed. As such many of those original colour photos have not lasted as well as ones from later years. Lesley sent me some classic examples of discoloured photos from that era. Chris had this badly discoloured old photo. It had a ribbon over the corner that has made a different discolouration. There is also part of the shoulder missing and needed replacing.
