APS photo restored

This is a favourite image of Michelle's. This photo was taken on an APS camera and has suffered from light damage. APS stands for Advanced Photo System. This image didn't look all that advanced. There is a mysterious shadowing and a red discolouration on the left hand side.  All of the damage has now been removed and the image can now be printed an enjoyed. Thanks again, really pleased with it, much appreciated . -Michelle  PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists.

Restoring the smile in this damaged photograph

This is a great photo spoilt because of light damage to the film. Light entering the camera has fogged the film and created this red discolouration when printed. I have removed the colour stain and the photo is now much more enjoyable to look at.  PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists.

Restoring photos with photoshop

Happy Friday to all, this is not a 'how to' guide. Rather just a peek at some of the layers I use when restoring an image. The original image is never altered, this is part of the magic of Photoshop. Layers of different alterations are laid on top of the original to achieve the desired result. Below is an example of some of the different layers used. Restore old photos to black and white.

Most old photo's were taken as 'Black and White'. There was no colour at all, just pure black and white photography. The brownish colour that is noticeable in lots of old photos is due to age and fading and discolouration of the chemicals in the print. Many people mistakenly believe this to be 'Sepia' toning.  Sepia toning did take place in old photos. Indeed the practice of sepia toning has been around for almost as long a photographic printing has. But it was expensive and a specialist process. Applied to a few rather than the masses of photos taken at the time. So as we see below, to accurately restore this photo, I have returned it to pure black and white, using photoshop.  PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The magic of Photoshop

Friday yet again and here is something a little different. I don't just do photo restorations, I can also correct mistakes and make images better just through using the magic of Photoshop.  In this photo the branches were too distracting in front of the model. so they were removed. The models skin tone was evened out and blemishes removed and the eyes were brightened up to make the image so much more impressive.  PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. Merging images together

Some times people want more than what is already in the original photo. So I can create whole new images from existing photos by merging them together in Photoshop, like the ones below. both have been cleaned up and in the case of the gentleman he has been reversed to face the lady. The final image was given a sepia tint to add character.  + PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists.

Remove writing from old photos

Friday again. Another week has flown by. Today's photo has been written on with pen and is also a watermarked with a proof stamp. In its original state it does not look at all presentable but with the writing removed it becomes a lovely portraiture. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. Repair photo and restore to sepia colour

Val wanted some of her photos to be made sepia, to have a consistent look through a series of family photos. So I patched up the image and added a sepia tone to the image. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists.

Repairing old photo and background

Some more images from Val's genealogy research. I removed the marks and blemishes from the image and increased the contrast and density of the image. This one needed to be changed from oval to square so I had to extend the background and his arms and suit. Val now has the option to frame this anyway she wishes. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists.
