Collage time...

Thelma wanted to create something special for a relative in america and between us this is what we created. There were 7 old photos, in black and white and some in colour that all needed to be restored before we could make them into this wonderful collage. In Photoshop I increased the contrast and clarity of the main colour photo and created masks for the inserts. then in separate layers I added the restored black and white photos to the collage. This has now become a unique and treasured gift. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Click here for 'fancy view'

This photo has some bad pen marks spoiling the look of this family favorite. So I removed the pen marks using the heal and clone tools in Adobe Photoshop. Then I restored the contrast and vibrancy of the colours. The photo now looks restored and ready to be enjoyed again for many years to come.  PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Historical photos look great again

Kath asked me to clean up this old family photo from what looks to be early 20th century, if any one has a better idea about the date I would be grateful to know. I converted it to black and white before restoring and cleaning up the sky area and added some more contrast and clarity to make this old photo shine again. Kath- The restoration looks great, thank you.    PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Click here for 'fancy view'

Restring old house photo during world cup feaver

Whilst the rest of New Zealand was lost in rugby fever, Alex sent me this very sad looking photo hoping to get a clearer view of the house and people. The image was very small and lacked detail. even once contrast was restored the image itself was out of focus and blurred. But non the less with the help of Photoshop the final image can now at least be recognised and enjoyed once more. Digitally restored old photo

I digitally restored this 80 year old photo and now it looks like it was taken yesterday. It is actually an old black and white image that was hand painted over to look like a colour photograph. It is one of the best examples of this type of work I have seen. So congratulation to whoever the original print processor was. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. Repairing an old photo from a frame.

A lot of older images were displayed in oval frames. As this was the fashion of the day. But this leads to many cut up images. This lady needed some repair and also to be made whole again. Vignetting was used heavily back in the day, and so this image has continued with that theme. Rectangular images can be framed a lot more easily, and can therefore be enjoyed more often. Have a great weekend everyone. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Click here for 'fancy view'

Restore old photos to black and white.

Most old photo's were taken as 'Black and White'. There was no colour at all, just pure black and white photography. The brownish colour that is noticeable in lots of old photos is due to age and fading and discolouration of the chemicals in the print. Many people mistakenly believe this to be 'Sepia' toning.  Sepia toning did take place in old photos. Indeed the practice of sepia toning has been around for almost as long a photographic printing has. But it was expensive and a specialist process. Applied to a few rather than the masses of photos taken at the time. So as we see below, to accurately restore this photo, I have returned it to pure black and white, using photoshop.  PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. Merging images together

Some times people want more than what is already in the original photo. So I can create whole new images from existing photos by merging them together in Photoshop, like the ones below. both have been cleaned up and in the case of the gentleman he has been reversed to face the lady. The final image was given a sepia tint to add character.  + PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists.

Remove writing from old photos

Friday again. Another week has flown by. Today's photo has been written on with pen and is also a watermarked with a proof stamp. In its original state it does not look at all presentable but with the writing removed it becomes a lovely portraiture. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. Repairing old photo and background

Some more images from Val's genealogy research. I removed the marks and blemishes from the image and increased the contrast and density of the image. This one needed to be changed from oval to square so I had to extend the background and his arms and suit. Val now has the option to frame this anyway she wishes. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists.

Cleaning up for the Genealogy Society

Val is a keen member of the Genealogy Society and wanted some photos cleaned up. They were generally in good condition and just needed to be brought back to life. Another aspect to her request was the need for copies for the rest of the family. It is so important that hard copies are kept with more than one person when preserving family history. We can do just straight copies of photos with no restoration if they don't need it, contact me for details and prices.
