Collage time...

Thelma wanted to create something special for a relative in america and between us this is what we created. There were 7 old photos, in black and white and some in colour that all needed to be restored before we could make them into this wonderful collage. In Photoshop I increased the contrast and clarity of the main colour photo and created masks for the inserts. then in separate layers I added the restored black and white photos to the collage. This has now become a unique and treasured gift. PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Click here for 'fancy view'

Fading fast

Paul's wife wanted to get this wonderful family photo saved. The sun had almost faded this one completely away. I used Photoshop to recolour parts of the image and used hue and saturation layers to recover the salvageable parts. Paul was very happy with the restoration.   PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Click here for 'fancy view'

Which of these styles is best?

Just trying out a different technique for show clients the finished proof of their photo restoration. The first way is what I normally send clients. It is just a simple before and after Jpeg file, sat side by side for easy comparison. But I wondered if a GIF file that automatically changes between the two images would be better. I sometimes feel that the side by side view doesn't always show the full extent of what areas have been improved or repaired. The GIF file seems to show this better because the images are on top of each other not side by side. I'm using this Anzac Soldier to demonstrate. What do you think? Did you notice more area that had been improved in the GIF or on the side by side version? Traditional side by side Different way using GIF PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. Gallipoli Soldier just in time for Anzac Day

James brought along this wonderful photo of his granddad who served in the first world war and fought at Gallipoli, which is remembered this year after 100 years. You can read more about the battle at Gallipoli here http://www.anzac.govt.nz/gallipoliguide/  . Anzac Day is celebrated tomorrow here in New Zealand and this wonderful old photo serves as reminder of the proud and brave solders who served for their country. Jame originally just wanted the photo restored but once it was restored I suggested that it be made into colour and this has really brought this old photo to life again. Thanks Richard.  The picture is very nice. - James PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Click here for 'fancy view'

Wedding photos restored from proofs

I have restored these old photos for Lorraine from the contact sheet proofs. Back in the day, photographers had to print small proofs for customers to choose from. These were then enlarged to be placed in a photo album. These contact proofs were from a medium format camera and still have a quite bit of detail. They were badly creased and cracked. After the photos were restored I was able to print out to regular photo sizes for Lorraine. Thanks Richard, they look great. - Lorraine PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. Google maps still shows the old location!!

I moved house about 6 months ago and so did PixelFIX Photo Restoration. So I informed Google and they promptly marked my business as CLOSED!! this seems ridiculous and confusing to other users. I complained and was told that it would eventually fall off the map as the new location was taking over. But here is the situation after 6 months, a search in Google maps for PixelFIX show this.  PixelFIX - Photo restoration and photos repaired, from $15. The restoration and manipulation specialists. Restore and remove

Diane asked me to restore this wonderful family photo so that it could be enjoyed by her family once more. The photo is actually a copy made on Kodak dye sublimation printer, which has started to delaminate and crack all over the surface of the image. If left un-restored it would eventually peel away from the backing paper and disappear forever. You may also notice that in the restored photo, the little boy sat down in the background on the left has been removed to clean up the photo.
